The important support of cloud computing: Data Center infrastructure

Accepted view: The future of it lies in the cloud. From rapid deployment, pre-sales to disaster recovery, to demand expansion and mobile application delivery, cloud computing has its advantages everywhere, and even government departments are actively involved, such as the Hong Kong Cloud Computing Standards Alliance, recently officially set up to promote the spread of cloud computing in the region.

However, it is often overlooked that the success of cloud computing must be based on a good, solid data center infrastructure. To provide good support for cloud computing, we must first build a well-equipped modern data center and adopt a flexible, low-latency network to support highly virtualized resources. However, the reality is probably not the case.

In a typical datacenter, the application is typically updated, upgraded, or replaced every two years to consolidate new features and functionality. However, the data center hardware and software design life of the highest 20, its replacement frequency is far from the application of the update frequency. The current reality is that there are architectural differences in the way cloud computing is delivered to end users. In the near future, 99.999% of businesses will not be in a cloud for businesses that rely entirely on their network and data center for day-to-day activities.

Thanks to a new approach to data center hardware and software design, this transformation is now more convenient to manage. These methods highlight two important advances in infrastructure design: Automation and higher levels of network intelligence. These two advances combine to help customers make smarter design decisions about data centers, deploy solutions that meet their dynamic business requirements, and lay the groundwork for future expansion.

These methods also lay the groundwork for two other important impacts that are often overlooked in cloud computing.

The first aspect reflects the importance of the network in the Cloud Computing data center. Similarly, we need to better plan, manage, and automate the Office LAN infrastructure as desktops and office environments continue to virtualize and rely increasingly on their networks to deliver applications.

The second aspect highlights one of the key advantages of cloud computing: achieving employee mobility. However, wireless is easier said than done. While building wireless capabilities, ensuring consistent performance, availability, and security can be difficult, its importance is becoming increasingly prominent.

More importantly, in the initial design phase, ensuring that these infrastructure issues are properly addressed will largely unlock data center infrastructure-building problems. This can ultimately ensure that the company's cloud journey will not be postponed because of the storm.
