Thirdrail launches hugedrive cloud storage

Thridrail Holdings released cloud storage, but in this market there are a lot of vendors, the competition is very fierce.

A company called Thirdrail Holdings launched the hugedrive.com service, an online storage service that targets consumers and businesses. It says the product will challenge the services of technology giants Google and Amazon.

But this is not the first time Thirdrail has tried to enter the online marketplace. Prior to Hugedrive, the manufacturer had launched a series of online services, including blogs (blogmas), e-mail (hugemail), web Hosting (hugewire) and web site monitoring (httpvision), and so on.

Hugedrive provides three levels of service: The first tier is free service, enables two users to access, provides 500MB of disk storage space, and the second tier is professional services, Priced at $9.99 a month, it enables 10 users to access and provides 10GB of storage; the third tier is enterprise-class services priced at $29.99 a month, allowing up to 1000 users to access and provide 25GB of storage space.

The problem for hugedrive is how to differentiate it from the services of many competitors, which offer almost the same online storage services. "This is a very crowded market space and a very competitive market," said Greg Schulz, founder of analyst and consultancy Storageio, "There are some powerful giants in the market, such as Google, Amazon, HP, Dell, IBM and At&t." There are even banks involved, such as Wells Fargo (Wells Fargo), to provide managed storage services.

Adam Trading, president of Thirdrail Holdings, says Hugedrive will stand out because it offers customers a very easy to use Internet interface, "even if your grandmother can use it." All applications are running on a Web browser, he says, and no special software is required.
Trading said that Hugedrive's online file management Service can provide customers with enterprise-class quality of service document management, document recovery, and document versioning services that will attract corporate users. He said, "Whether you're an individual enterprise, a small office is also a large office where you can add and remove employee members, decide which members can access files, set user names and passwords, or open space, post your content, and let your customers or employees see it.

Trading says another important feature is the "Online File sharing window widget." Customers can place this widget on a Web site or blog, allowing it to function as a file Publishing service. "You can store your content on hugedrive and add it to your home page so you can publish your files and documents in this way." We are responsible for all processes ".

However, potential corporate customers may hesitate to hand over data to relatively obscure companies, especially when some of the recent online storage services are having problems. "Companies are not going to entrust their important data to a free or cheap service," said analyst Schulz.

For example, the simple Storage service of the Amazon Web service (S3: Easy storage services) occurred in July with a duration of up to 8 hours of failure, and users were unable to connect and use the data and files stored by the service. Some online storage services have ceased to operate, throwing customers and their data aside. A service called the Linkup closed on August 8, and customers complained that they could not access files and data that had been stored on the service.

The Hugedrive service is hosted on a server cluster located in a data center in Albany, New York, where several high-bandwidth connections are connected to the Internet. "We've been doing this for years, and we haven't had a problem in three years," trading said. "We have redundant servers that can quickly increase capacity."

But, Schulz says, most companies "do not intend to entrust their important data to a free or cheap service".
