Pingdom, a market research firm, showed that the June Twitter outage was just 2 minutes before the crash, and that the performance was pretty good. Twitter's April and May downtime were 37 minutes and 52 minutes, respectively.
As users around the world grow, Twitter's reliability and performance issues are becoming a growing concern. Twitter said in February that users posted 50 million messages a day, averaging 600 per second.
In the past, Twitter has often had long downtime failures with fairly low reliability, but has recently improved considerably. Last August, for example, Twitter crashed more than 6 hours and October more than 5 hours. Pingdom says Twitter has had the worst performance in January this year, with 89 minutes of downtime.
