After four years, Twitter once again threw an olive branch at the developer. Today, at the Twitter Flight developer conference in San Francisco, CEO Dick Costolo introduced a toolkit fabric for third party developers.

The fabric contains not only the previous Twitter SDK, but also two other important parts of the Crashlytics SDK and MoPub SDK to help developers increase product stability and gain application revenue.

The Twitter SDK is the closest to its core product in this release toolkit. The new feature will allow developers to provide users with Twitter account login capabilities, and even some developers can request the user's email address during the registration process.

A new feature called "Digits" is seen as the focus of this Conference. This feature gives mobile phone users a new and convenient way to log in--allowing users to create and log into accounts using mobile phone numbers in third party applications.

Registration, the user input mobile phone number will receive a group of message confirmation code, after the input confirmation code that completes registration. This greatly simplifies the user registration process, but also facilitates user memory. Dick insists that the digits account is not a Twitter account, but an identifiable account based on the user's mobile number.

In addition, digits will also be a boost for Twitter in emerging markets, under pressure from Facebook to buy WhatsApp. "Smartphone sales in emerging markets reached 940 million this year," digits product manager Michael Ducker said, "This is three times times the number of U.S. and European markets." "In some countries, users are not accustomed to using or having no e-mail," said CEO Dick, a mobile phone that is the only smart device that some users have. At the same time, the toolkit, including digits, is available in 216 countries and includes 28 languages.

Twitter is also trying to get closer to the developer through the meeting, even though the company has been seen as banning potential rivals and depressing developers for modifying its developer terms.

The other two main tools were from the two companies that Twitter had previously acquired--debugging and testing tools Crashlytics and mobile ad trading service platform MoPub. The former is primarily used to improve application stability, helping developers to determine which line of code is causing the application to crash, and helping them distribute early versions of the application to test users, while the latter can help developers sell ads by bidding. Over the past 30 days, the number of MoPub ads has been displayed more than 170 billion times.

"I've been to other companies ' developers ' conferences," said Jeff, who is currently working for LinkedIn, "and other than digits, there are other things that have been done before, and I believe they should have a series of optimizations, but only when developers need to use them." He's using his spare time to develop an Android app with his colleagues, "I might be more concerned about Twitter's policies for developers than the toolkit." I like them to allow us to let users log in via Twitter accounts.

In the afternoon session, Twitter prepared several technical topics for developers, but did not have the same developer conferences as Google, Apple, and so on.

In addition to developers, Twitter flight has attracted many businesses that rely on the platform for content promotion.

"We have 47% of pages per day coming from Twitter," said Raju Narisetti, senior vice president of the Wall Street Journal. "Twitter is a good platform for spreading its many information resources to many countries around the world, providing the newspaper with a wider outreach channel for its audiences."

ASSAF is working for mobile app data analysis and service provider Appsflyer, which provides users with app tracking, evaluation and marketing services. "We help many companies and even Chinese companies with data analysis and marketing, and partners include many companies such as Facebook and Twitter," he said. Although countries like China are now unable to use Twitter and Facebook, they do not prevent us from using the platform to provide them with global marketing data. Assaf believes that fabric will simplify the link between apps and Twitter, which will bring more users to Twitter in both quantity and geography, which will be what the company wants to see.
