VMware strengthens support for OpenStack architecture

Recently, VMware announced that it will continue to actively participate in and lead the OpenStack community. VMware is once again among the top ten contributors to the OpenStack, while extending the scope of contributions to computing, networking and storage.

VMware delivers the following features for the OpenStack Havana release:

OpenStack Nova (computing)--partnering with major OpenStack contributors such as HP, IBM and canonical--has further enhanced VMware Vsphere's support for Nova, a contribution that VMware has made in the grizzly release. Vsphere extends support for Nova and adds new features, including configuration-drivers, volume launches, more disk types, VNC consoles, instance snapshots, and more.

OpenStack Neutron (network)--vmware continued its leadership position in the Neutron network project. Neutron can support VMware NSX network virtualization, including virtual switches in the kernel of VMware vsphere 5.5, load Balancing, service (Lbaas), and stateful firewalls (FWAAS)

OpenStack Cinder (storage)-a VMDK driver that delivers VMware contributions for cinder, ensuring that the OpenStack cloud can take full advantage of VMware's new software-defined storage solutions VMware Virtual Sans, Create a distributed shared data store from locally linked disks and all supported vsphere storage arrays.
