World Intellectual Property Organization announces report: Huawei is the largest company to apply for international patent in 2014

Huawei is the largest company to apply for international patents in 2014, according to a report released March 19 by the United Nations agency, the World Intellectual Property Organization. According to the report, Huawei surpassed Panasonic in 3,442 applications and became the most patented company in 2014. Qualcomm, California, ranked second, with 2,409 applications, and China's ZTE ranked third, with 2,179 applications.

The WIPO report is based on the number of patent applications submitted by the Parties under the framework of the patent Cooperation Treaty. According to the annual report, China is the only country in the world with double-digit growth in the number of patent applications. The number of applications in Japan is decreasing.

According to the report of the World Intellectual Property Organization, in 35 technical fields, computer technology is the largest number of patent applications in the field, the number of applications is 17,653. In the top ten technology areas, the fastest growing is computer technology, with a growth rate of 19.4%, followed by medical technology, an increase of 17.1%, and third, digital communications, up 14.5%.
