Many people do not know that they are not good product managers, so they do not know what capabilities a good product manager should possess. They only know the capabilities necessary to be a product manager and hope they can help you.
The capabilities you need:
A. Some technical background (facilitate communication with technical personnel and sort functional priorities)
B. Product Prototyping capabilities (prototype documents, requirement manuals, and flowcharts help R & D personnel understand user needs, clarify ideas, and speed up the development process)
C. product documentation capability (user manual and white paper to help R & D personnel complete other things except coding and Technology Research)
D. Communicate with R & D personnel rather than a microphone (provided that you have done a lot of work to reduce the development workload)
E. Collect and analyze various data (R & D personnel like quantifiable data)
R & D personnel hate product managers who are unable to control their needs. The requirements change frequently and the work they have just done is often overturned, all the requirements raised by the customer are not analyzed by the product manager that is fully required and understood by the business logic. In the end, the technicians failed to produce the product for a long time.
In the eyes of users, you are technical personnel, you are customer service personnel, you are pre-sales personnel, you are people who know what they want and provide technical solutions, tell them what is right and what is wrong.
Therefore, you need:
A. Familiar with the products and technologies of your company
B. Familiar with competitor products and some newer technologies
C. use various methods such as graphics and drawing board to guide customers to clarify their ideas and find out their real needs.
D. Good at summarizing and analyzing and identifying common requirements
E. Be brave in rejecting users' demands and telling users why
Brainstorming can be very open, and planning and design can be very small. A user does not like to answer questions, but does not know the product manager.
In the eyes of the boss, you can take care of any product. Before a product is available, you can quickly allocate the company's resources and plan to launch the product at the minimum cost. After the product is launched, he expects to improve product availability, enhance product competitiveness, increase user viscosity, broaden the product user field, and increase product income.
Therefore, you need:
A. product planning capabilities (User Group definition, product feature definition, core function definition, establishment of competitive thresholds, and function Planning)
B. Resource Scheduling and organization capabilities (project funds, supporting hardware and software resources, and personnel)
C. Coordination and communication between multiple departments (R & D, design, testing, customer service, O & M, marketing, sales, and other related departments)
D. Product Operation promotion capability (packaging, promotion, and product pricing)
E. Keep up with the boss's pace and quickly understand the command intent (take the boss as a user and clarify the user needs)
F. Collection of Decision-making materials (competitor research, customer research, and Market Research)
G. Cost Awareness and time awareness (cost accounting and product launch control)
The boss is the product manager who does not like to shirk responsibility, often complain, often find reasons, dare not take responsibility, have no head or tail, have no cost awareness, and release time of the product.
In our own eyes, we are willing to do anything other people do not want to do. all-powerful players, no resources, and no one else can do it; there are many people who want to make a successful product. Many people say that it is easy to use. They admire Qiao bangzhu and Zhang Xiaolong. They seldom admire a person. Once they admire people who have made great contributions, they only need something new, this is the first group of people who often talk about Google, Facebook, and t Witter.
