How to enter the gaming industry

Today, another interviewer was rejected by me. Every time I refuse a kind of enthusiastic classmates like him, I feel very worried. Therefore, I often give some learning suggestions after rejecting others, and encourage them to submit resumes after half a year! I will give different suggestions based on different situations, but over the years, there will probably be many things in common. Today I have time to summarize them.

 

In general, my team is willing to bring new people, but new people must have a certain programming Foundation, a certain degree of potential, and a certain degree of "character ". Therefore, my advice to those who want to enter the game industry is to lay a good foundation for the C ++ language. First of all, we need to realize that what we learn at school is just the commonly used C ++ syntax, which is not enough! It can be said that the C ++ learned in the school is similar to the C ++ used in our work. So there are several books that must be read, and all the exercises in the book are done. The first is Lippman's C ++ Primer, at least "Essential C ++" should be viewed once. I have always said that programming is actually a hands-on job, so reading books alone is not enough. At least we should write a program with more than 10 thousand lines. After you complete a C ++ program with more than 10 thousand lines, you will find that many of your ideas have changed. Sometimes I suggest writing a game like Tetris or a server + client in a chat room.

 

Many other interviewees asked me about game training. For example, is training XXX worth learning? As a matter of fact, my interview experience will give me no extra points to the people who come out of most training institutions, because the works they bring are often "made with the teacher or other students ", I am not clear about the specific ideas in this article. Therefore, it cannot be said that game training is useless at all. It can only be said that it depends on the individual's foundation. I believe that a good teacher can still learn a lot. However, if you still go through the course on the surface, it makes no sense.
