Integration of ERP and MES
The challenge is to integrate the process interfaces between the Enterprise Layer (ERP) and the Shop floor Management (MES) in the context of continuous refinement of manufacturing and Planning Unit requirements. The ERP system controls the enterprise-wide administrative and business processes, and the ME system is closely related to the production line for continuous optimization of production, recording of production process information and technical parameters. These data are diverse: including time and quantity information, quality data, machine and equipment status, faults, and their causes. This information reflects the state of the production system, which in turn has an impact on the production plan in the ERP system.
We hope that the boundary between ERP and MES system will be diluted in Industry 4.0 environment, the enterprise layer will be continuously integrated into the production management of the workshop. Some typical functions of MES system will be implemented in ERP system, and the planning task of traditional ERP system will be transferred to the detailed plan of MES system.
If it is a purely reporting system, then the entire plan control is left in the ERP system, the MES system will also assume the task of making some detailed plans. In the case of capacity constraints, the limited capacity planning Program provides a plan option to help the ERP system execute rough planning.
