ITSM and ITIL are becoming increasingly popular.

Some people think that this is a new technology. Some people think that ITSM is just an application of MIS, and some people think that it is nothing more than network management + workflow.

In fact, the emergence of ITSM should be viewed throughout the IT industry. It can be said that the emergence of ITSM is mapped to a new round of changes in the IT industry, and will grow along with the changes in the IT industry structure and value chain; or even, it can be said that, ITSM is a sign of the maturity of the IT industry.

This article attempts to explore the background, changes, and business opportunities of ITSM Based on the development trend of the IT industry.

1. SOA, technology first

When all service components are connected through an ESB, it is discovered that the software as a whole is gone, instead of a series of "services" and their combinations.

Software can be combined instead of being provided by an ASP.

SOA is not a new technology, but a combination of original technologies. Before SOA, people have come up with various ways to build distributed application systems. SOA encapsulates a common interface layer to connect components developed by various technologies through a unified interface.

SOA is more important at the business level. It forces us to consider the software structure from the perspective of business services. When we build a new application system, we will consider which "services" are existing and which "services" need to be developed based on the business, and how these services work together to meet business needs.

Based on this consideration, similar to the hardware "bus structure" is generated in the software field, which is ESB. When all service components are connected through an ESB, it is discovered that the software as a whole is gone, instead of a series of "services" and their combinations.

With this architecture, the "consequence" of the next generation is that the software can be combined instead of being provided by a certain ASP. This will bring new models and opportunities to the entire industry.
