Rackspace pushes open-source cloud computing platform openstack to shake the industry

According to foreign media reports, network hosting company rackspace announced today that it will open source its software for providing cloud storage and cloud computing services. The company also plans to release the openstack open-source cloud computing platform, and provideSource code.

Openstack is divided into two projects: cloud computing and cloud storage. openstack cloud computing is mainly used to provide automatic creation and management for virtual servers. openstack cloud storage can create a large number of scalable object storage software, this storage software is used on commercial cluster servers. It can store terabytes or even petabytes of data.

Rackspace said that NASA will also integrate the technology of the NASA nebula cloud computing platform into openstack. The company also said it plans to enhance the interoperability between different cloud computing services, so as to avoid the isolation of different vendors and establish industry standards together.

Rackspace claims that more than 25 companies are interested in the open-source platform project, and some are already active in the project. These companies include AMD, Dell, Citrix, cloud.com, cloudkick, cloudswitch, and NTT Data.

Openstack ProjectCodeIt will be released under the extremely loose and free Apache 2 license, which means that any third party can re-release the code, develop private software on the basis of it, and release it according to the new license.
