Tips for using Windows fonts
There are a lot of fonts in the system, but do you know how to manage them? How to make the font more beautiful, how to allow multiple systems to share the font library? Let's tell you!
1. Multi-system shared font Library
Installing multiple operating systems on a single computer is nothing new, such as Windows 98 and Windows XP. Whether it's landscaping, or using Photoshop to make pictures, you'll need to install a few additional Third-party font libraries. Fonts under Windows are not available before they are installed, and a large font library file is apparently a waste of space when installed on multiple systems. Of course we have a way to allow multiple operating systems to share the font library, follow the steps below!
Step one: Copy the font library file to a directory under a common partition on your hard disk (it is recommended that you do not put it on the system partition, and if Windows 98 is shared with XP, you should put it in a FAT32-formatted partition), such as the E:fonts directory.
Step Two: Open "Explorer", enter the E:fonts directory just established, open the font directory of the system (if you can not determine the location of the directory, please click "start → settings → control Panel", and then double-click the "Font" item can open the System font directory).
Step three: Press CTRL + A to select all the font library files under the E:fonts directory, right-click the selected file and drop it into the system font directory, loosen the right button and choose "Create shortcut in current position" in the pop-up menu, these fonts will be used normally. Once installed in one system, reboot into another system to perform the same operation. This method can also solve the problem that the system partition space is tense after installing large fonts.
Display font Chinese name in 2.Photoshop
The font files that are installed in Windows are typically displayed in the list of fonts in Photoshop, but sometimes the Chinese font files installed after Photoshop are not available and can be resolved by using this method: Start Photoshop, select menu. Edit, click preset → general, and remove the "Display English name" Check, you can display the normal.
3. Make the font more smooth
In Windows, if you have a larger font size in your document or Web page, the jagged edges will appear and affect your appearance. You may think of changing fonts and installing third-party software to solve them, but you can save that time because Windows XP has its own solution. Right-click the desktop space to select Properties and click Effects on the Appearance tab of the pop-up window. Check the "Smooth edges of screen fonts using the following ways", select "Clear" in the Drop-down list box, and click OK (see Figure 1) to see how the current font display is different!
4. Insert the font into the document
You can install any font on your computer, as long as you want, but when you send a document that uses these font files to someone, you can't force them to install the fonts they need to see the document. Viewing this type of document with a special font on a system that does not have a corresponding library, the system automatically replaces the nonexistent font with the default font, so the display will be compromised. In Word (version 2000 and above) we can insert fonts into the document so that it can be displayed as-is in any system! Select menu tools → options, open the Save tab, and then tick the embed TrueType fonts and embed characters only check box (see Figure 2).
5. Software fonts look better
Many foreign software in the Chinese version of the display font is very ugly, and not only the Chinese version, even the official version of the release is likely to occur. This is because the software defaults to use the font is not "Arial" caused by the better way is in the software settings in the interface font set to "Arial", and then the font size set to 11 or so (can be fine-tuned according to their own needs). If the software itself does not provide the option to set the font, you can use resource Hacker (http://www.onlinedown.net/soft/12420.htm) to modify the font displayed on the window in the software exe file.
6. Quickly zoom fonts in a Web page
In a Web page, sometimes because the font is too small to see the content, although you can see the menu in the font size to make three preset size changes, but the steps are cumbersome and only three of the size level available. Try positioning the mouse in the Web page, holding down CTRL and turning the wheel in the middle of the mouse, the font can be quickly scaled (note: For a very small number of pages This method is not valid)! This method can also be used in QQ Chat window.
Do not allow folder sharing to slow down the system
In the LAN environment, the best way to file an exchange is to open a shared folder, but it is possible that you have just published your computer's share address in QQ group or elsewhere, and there will be dozens of people connecting to your computer at once, and your system will become unusually slow. Right-click My Computer to select Manage, and then select shared folder → Share on the left side of the Computer Management window that pops up. Right-click the shared folder you set in the right pane Select "Properties", select "Allow this number of users" and set the number of connections to prevent yourself from being dragged down, while on the left to select " Shared folders → sessions, you can immediately disconnect users who are now connected.
