U.S. smartphone users download the number of applications per month Beijing time August 25 Morning News, market research company comscore released the latest data show that mobile applications currently accounted for the American digital media consumption time of 52%, higher than the early 2013 40%. Since 2008, when Apple (101.32,0.74,0.74%) launched the iphone App store, mobile apps have started to spread quickly. At the June Apple Global Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple announced that the App Store has reached 75 billion downloads a year. This July, Apple also announced that APP store revenue was the highest ever recorded, while the number of users downloading apps also hit new highs. However, according to comscore, most American users do not download apps for a given one months. The number of users downloading applications is only 1/3, and most of these users download 1 to 3 apps. In addition, 7% of users downloaded nearly half of the apps. Why is this happening? This is not because applications are not used, and more than half of all smartphone users in the United States use apps every day. This is not because the application price is very high, in fact most of the applications are free, and since the introduction of the App Store, the application price has been declining. So, what is the real reason? One explanation is that most users do not need many applications, and the applications that users have installed can achieve most of the functionality. Almost all smartphone users use applications, but the most commonly used applications account for 42% of the total time spent on applications. The user installs the new application and then deletes it, which is particularly common in gaming applications. At the same time, breakthrough applications are becoming scarce. The top 25 top applications in the United States are mainly from large companies, including Facebook (74.57,0.00,0.00%), Google (582.56,-0.81,-0.14%), Pandora and Yahoo (38.01,0.37,0.98%). Another explanation is that it is not convenient to find and download new applications. App Store has been criticized for its discovery function. Users often use the top 25 rankings, search engines, and some editorial options to find applications. This makes large application developers more powerful, and new applications are hard to be concerned about. There is no doubt that Apple's application ecosystem is excellent, perhaps one of the most important inventions in the history of software development, and Google imitates Apple's model. However, the application ecosystem still has a lot of room for optimization. (Chu Yue)
