In a recent investigation into the Web site for downloading pirated software, organised by the FBI and DOJ, the three websites, including Applanet.net, snappzmarket.com and Appbucket.net, were halted. Each closed server is recorded in an FBI seizure notice. According to PC Wworld, FBI agents tried to download several pirated payment software before the three sites were legally sanctioned, and 9 search warrants were executed on August 21. It is unclear whether the FBI and DOJ will continue to hold legal responsibility or detain the webmaster and website staff of the three sites. The largest of the three sites,--applanet, has more than 15,000 applications in the AD database, even if it has cached information in Google's search. The site also has more than 88,000 and 21,000 fans on Facebook and Twitter respectively. SnappzMarket and AppBucket were relatively small, with 16400 and 492 fans on Facebook. SnappzMarket also has more than 50000 of the apps advertised. The suspension of the three sites should be a warning to websites that offer software downloads from iOS and Android. Whether or not pirated software really affects developers ' earnings, at least morally, this is obviously incorrect. In a word, piracy is illegal, and it is deserved to be investigated and stopped.
