According to CEO Godfrey Sullivan of Splunk, 2014 will be a very interesting year as companies expand their core IT and security businesses with big data analytics software.
Godfrey Sullivan, CEO of Splunk, said that AWS enters streaming data through the new Kinesis service, which will expand its market and use case.
The company reported strong third quarter earnings that beat expectations. Splunk Enterprise is Growing Rapidly With Splunk Enterprise, a data analysis software that has recently been extensively restored in the user interface
Last week, AWS released Kinesis, a service that can handle large amounts of live streaming data. Its users can save and process terabytes of data in hours. Initially, Kinesis was considered a potential competitor to Splunk.
Sullivan made a brief summary of the Kinesis hot. He said:
"Kinesis is good for everyone because it exposes more companies to their own logbook, just as Salesforce publishes its own logs. Customers can access the logs and we are good at analyzing the data. More and more people are starting to announce these Log, this is very important. On the quarter, we also introduced an improved version of Splunk for Amazon, you can find this application in the Amazon instance, and daily reports on the workload to make improvements to identify unnecessary links.Amazon Splunk's connectivity has many advantages and we plan to invest in it. "
AWS and Splunk could extend the use of big data beyond core IT business. Much of Splunk's revenue now comes from IT monitoring and log tracking of technology devices. However, Splunk is also gradually used to meet other business needs.
Sullivan said Splunk's use in 2014 will no longer be limited to IT and security. "I think 2014 will be an exciting year in terms of growth, business analytics, and Web intelligence because Splunk 6 brings a much easier interface," he said.
Splunk did not predict how much new revenue could come from new uses, such as IoT and operational analytics. However, he expects these benefits to equal those of core IT monitoring businesses.
Other highlights:
Analysts are optimistic about the future of Splunk Cloud, a feature-as-service version of Splunk Enterprise. Splunk can run as a service or as an AWS, or as an internal application.
The deal with Intuit and other large customers underscores Splunk's broad recognition of the business. These accreditation agreements essentially mean that these companies are Splunk standardization. Intuit sees Splunk as a fundamental analytics technology.
70% of Splunk license orders come from the original customer base.
