Lead: As a founder, your job is to discover, seize and take advantage of opportunities, and ultimately create an environment in which disagreements not only coexist but also promote business growth. How to build a good team? A question from the founder of an early start-up company, Quora, has recently been a fire, with more than 100 answers and more than 150,000 comments, including myself. In the question, the anonymous founder asked the Quora community for advice on the following: I run a young start-up in Silicon Valley. My only employee was very good, but he has recently become a father. This means he has to leave the company between 6 o'clock and 7 in the evening. I understand him, but the dedication of the staff is limited to working hours, which is too difficult for a start-up company. What would you do if you were the CEO of the company? This post does irritate many people in the Quora community (you can also feel the emotion from their reactions), but as a company founder, I understand his difficulties. A few months ago, I had the same problem. At the time, a senior Android engineer left my company, who was very capable and an important member of our team, but this led me to reconsider my attitude and gradually realize why it is so important to maintain a positive corporate culture. For the founder of the above question, I hope he will be aware of a painful but extremely important lesson to be learned in creating a positive corporate culture and the unique opportunities that this lesson brings. The following is what I told him in Quora: The key person who decides the success or failure of the matter sits in front of you and asks to go home to see the child. Listen to what he thinks, learn something from him. He knows what kind of environment allows him to be in the best position to succeed. It's easy to get bogged down in daily chores and focus on short-term productivity. But corporate culture is important. Creating a positive environment for your employees will improve your team's overall well-being, and your company will be better off. In the end, the value created by the loss of the best employee turnover to the company's productivity becomes insignificant. This is one of my most appreciative words: you hire an employee and a person goes in. When Alex, the company's engineer, told me that he was going to leave, I couldn't believe my ears. If we can keep an eye on him when he's working with us, then I might know that he's taking on a management position he doesn't want to do. In addition to meeting the basic needs of a start-up company, he hopes to continue to refine his skills and experience. After this conversation, I talked to our Chief software engineer, who talked about his expectations of management, and he said, "You're willing to talk to your wife at home after 6 months, and that's what makes you feel sleepy. Is it a matter of confusion, or are you willing to communicate openly with each other? I think I am a very logical person, so this remark also won my resonance. We then make a series of changes, one of which is to change the way we communicate with each other. In the past, we would schedule the meetings ahead of schedule or interrupt what the staff were doing to get them involved in the discussion; now we have a good platform with Slack, a corporate collaboration tool that allows teams to freely discuss and share their ideas in their free time and ultimately help them open up. Plus, it doesn't distract employees as it used to. I find it interesting to see Slack become so important to our team, after all, I am a person who enjoys face-to-face communication. Therefore, when direct communication becomes more appropriate, the team mainly through the Slack for general communication, also become a more relaxed, not distracted things. Communication within the team is increasingly becoming a valuable experience. However, it is not easy to do this, as the founder, the key is to have a clear understanding of their own talent, if you want to successfully build a united, positive team, it is necessary to find complementary technology team members this is obvious. It is not easy to understand that complementary technologies are accompanied by different personalities, different communication skills, different interests and different expectations. As a founder, your job is to discover, seize and take advantage of opportunities, and ultimately create an environment in which disagreements not only coexist but also promote business growth. If you're not sure what your company's corporate culture should look like, take the time to communicate with your employees. No one knows everything, and the reason you want to create a team is to have a hands-on experience without having to do anything. I'm working with some of the best engineers, UX designers and wearable equipment specialists. In the face of any problems, I will be frank and said, I really do not know, or let us all think of ways to do it. Not only does a team appreciate this attitude, but it's also a matter of respect. This usually happens when you build the industry's future. The result is a mutual respect and understanding of what we learn from each other, thus making the company a good foundation for success. Everyone's expectations and opinions about the ideal environment are not necessarily the same as I imagined. From this perspective, my goal as a founder is to create a workplace that can go beyond what our team expects. I told Alex that he was a responsible employee who had the right to make the right changes to push the company forward, and that a friction layer was almost immediately eliminated. If you can give your team members the opportunity to change the company's culture and environment, look around and see the company's progress in the joint efforts of a group of happy people.
