"Sohu It News" (Zhao Ziwen) October 29, The Verge reported that researchers have developed new software to measure the pulse with smartphones, headphones, and matching software. The technique uses the closed effect of earplugs on headphones to measure air pressure in the user's ear canal. With the transmission of the blood flow of the ear arteries, the eardrum appears a slight vibration and the vibration frequency is about 1Hz. Using the headset's loudspeaker as a microphone, the software can identify and analyze the vibration frequency to measure the user's pulse rate. Previously, the main problem with measuring the pulse with headphones is that even a good headset can not form a completely enclosed space in the ear, there will always be a little noise interference measurement. The project's research team says the software they develop can operate independently, without a fully enclosed space, or rely on some sort of "signal processing technology" to identify the vibration signals of the eardrum. The team believes that by adding this special signal processing technology to the phone, a normal headset can be used to measure the pulse directly.
