Tencent Science and Technology snow March 12 compiled Lenovo said that for the Shenzhen factory strike, it should be by IBM rather than Lenovo to solve the matter, because Lenovo acquisition of IBM's server business has not yet completed the transaction. Last week, more than 1000 workers at IBM's Shenzhen factory staged a strike because they might be transferred to Lenovo and pay may be lowered. Lenovo announced in January this year that it would buy an IBM-owned server business at a price of $2.3 billion, which is awaiting approval by regulators and governments. Lenovo said in a statement on its official website that the strike at the Shenzhen plant was an internal issue for IBM and promised that the group would keep its pay and benefits unchanged for employees who chose to stay after the deal was completed. "Lenovo and IBM are two separate companies," the statement said. Prior to the completion of the transaction, any integration between Lenovo and IBM's x86 server unit would not be carried out. The statement added: "To ensure a smooth transition [after the deal is completed], Lenovo promised to provide an opportunity for all employees who are willing to transfer to Lenovo from IBM's x86 server division, without reducing their pay and benefits." Lenovo said that once the deal was completed, IBM was expected to transfer to the group more than 7,500 employees in more than 60 countries around the world. Lenovo also said the employees were "good assets" and that this was partly the reason for Lenovo's choice of the deal. In addition to the pay issue, strikers say that once they choose to leave after the completion of the deal, the issue of severance payments is also a concern. As China's economic growth slows, the trend towards "industrial activism" (industrial activism) is growing, as evidenced by the IBM strike. Some experts pointed out that the "balance of power" in labour relations has shifted as a function of labour shortages, while smartphones and social media have played a role in helping workers organize strikes and have made it clearer than ever that the environmental changes in the labour market have taken place. In Tuesday, three IBM workers said many of the workers had returned to work or resigned, while others were still on strike.
