According to foreign website reports, Lenovo Mature Market senior Vice President Mirco Fan Igir (Milko van Duijl) said that this year in Australia's plan to reduce the number of workers, less than 10 people. This January, Lenovo announced a global layoff of 2500 people, accounting for a total of 11% layoffs, the layoffs will continue until March 31, 2010. Fando Igir said that compared to other countries in Australia's reorganization of the scope of small, fewer than 10, because the size of the local team is relatively small, and management is quite effective. Lenovo's staff in Australia is just over 100 people. He said layoffs were mainly in North America and western Europe. Looking ahead to Australia's market prospects, Fando Igir said there would be difficulties ahead, but confident Lenovo could survive the recession. He said it would take some time to complete the recovery and it would be difficult to predict when growth would resume. But he also believes that by introducing good products, Lenovo can have greater opportunities and wider impact, occupy more market share, in the first quarter, Lenovo will show good momentum. In terms of market share, Lenovo is the fourth-largest PC manufacturer in Australia, a position that is conducive to the company's development. Fando Igir said Lenovo's market share is relatively small, so no matter how the Australian market changes, Lenovo is a big market. In terms of shipments, Lenovo lagged behind Dell and Acer, the third place in the list. Fando Igir revealed that Lenovo had no immediate plans to release new products such as printers in Australia and would focus more on channel partners in the months ahead. He said that in the past Lenovo had been directly trading with end-users, selling products directly to them and providing services, relying mainly on their own sales cycle; but now Lenovo will change its strategy, focus more on channel sales, boost demand for channel providers and provide more technical and business support. Lenovo will also shift some of the people who originally focused on end-users to focus on partners. (Mushulin) (Source: NetEase Technology Report)
