HP is the latest High-tech vendor to join the open source OpenStack cloud computing project. HP has also joined the OpenStack cloud computing bandwagon. The OpenStack project is an Open-source cloud infrastructure platform developed by NASA and hosted by Rackspace Hosting, a managed service provider, OpenStack following Apache 2.0 licenses, Helps service providers implement infrastructure services similar to Amazon EC2 and S3.
Emil Sayegh, vice president of HP's cloud services marketing, said on his blog that HP had joined the OpenStack project, which has been joined by nearly 100 organizations since the project was developed by NASA and Rackspace a year ago.
At the same time, HP's competitor, Dell, has launched a cloud-ready (Cloud-ready) system of hardware, software, and services integration based on the OpenStack platform, through which enterprises can deploy their own IaaS business.
This month 26th, Dell also unveiled their cloud-based solutions based on OpenStack. The system contains a complete OpenStack software, crowbar program that runs on the Dell PowerEdge C server, which installs the Ubuntu 10.10 operating system. Crowbar can also be used as a OpenStack management tool to perform tasks such as State monitoring, performance data collection, and system alerts.
Sayegh points out that HP is the world's largest technology company and has many different products. From PCs, servers, printers, software, services, storage, and networks, these are essential in the cloud computing environment. The key issue for developing next-generation cloud-based services for businesses and users is to achieve open and interoperable cloud infrastructures and services.
Our belief is to combine HP Global investors with the developer community as a cornerstone for delivering accurate, seamless, and secure experience to our customers. Many of HP's rivals have joined the Organization for the year, including Citrix, Dell, Intel, AMD, Cisco, Brocade and Mellanox. The goal of its organization is to create an open and standard public and private cloud environment. Its members believe that an open development model is the only way to build an urgently needed cloud computing standard as quickly as possible. and remove cloud customers ' concerns and create a large ecosystem across cloud service providers.
Sayegh said HP has played a positive role in the development of OpenStack. HP is an opportunity to provide customers, partners, and developers with unique infrastructure and development solutions spanning public, private, and mixed clouds. HP also sponsored the OpenStack Design Conference and the OpenStack meeting in Boston in October.
