"Sohu It News" October 2 news, this Tuesday, Qualcomm announced the support of PMA (Power matters Alliance) wireless charging standards, for the PMA Standard This is a significant victory. Qualcomm is the major chipmaker, and PMA is the third wireless charging organization to join the Qualcomm. There are three wireless charging standards worldwide: PMA, WPC (Wireless power Consortium) and A4WP (Alliance for Wireless Power). These three standards have different wireless charging ideas. Specifically: PWA has Powermat technology and Procter and Gamble support, which uses a wireless charging rear cover and front cover to recharge. WPC uses the so-called QI standard, which is embedded in the phone, and the Nokia Lumia uses this charging standard. A4WP's supporters are Samsung and Qualcomm. Why does Qualcomm decide to support three standards? It's not just for money, Qualcomm obviously wants the industry to end up with just one standard. Qualcomm said in a statement: "Qualcomm is the founder member of A4WP, also joined the WPC and PMA." Qualcomm is still a member and a4wp of the board of Directors. Qualcomm will continue to support industry's transition to resonant wireless charging technology. To join these organizations, Qualcomm's goal is to allow the parties to agree on a path of development that would allow the world to adopt a single standard. Qualcomm believes that A4WP is the most mature and optimal solution for resonant charging. This time, we will take advantage of the introduction of PMA and WPC organizations to allow them to consider. "It is clear that Qualcomm thinks its standard A4WP is better than the QI standard and other standards, but Qualcomm will not push it on its own, but introduce technology into other organizations." This approach may be too slow, and organizations do not seem to co-operate for the benefit of consumers, instead they will use different technologies to fight the death. The current challenge in the market is the Qi wireless charging standard, but it has some deficiencies, these deficiencies by Qualcomm's solution to avoid. Qi only allows each charge plate to be filled with one device and must be aligned. The A4WP standard is more free in space and supports a charging board for multiple devices. There are some overlapping supporters of the three standards, but they vary from a broad perspective. WPC and the QI standard are dominant on equipment shipments, while PMA obtains support from some businesses, such as Starbucks. Wireless charging is slow when it comes to smartphones and tablets, with three of standards competing as a reason for slow growth. Now the attitude of the high Qualcomm change, Samsung yesterday and invest in a subordinate WPC standard enterprise. This may make wireless charging develop faster.
