Visual analysis is an important method for large data analysis. The large data visual analysis aims to utilize the computer automation analysis ability, fully excavate the people to the visual information cognition ability superiority, will the person, the machine's respective strength carries on the organic fusion, by means of the human-machine interactive analysis method and the interactive technology, Assist people to gain a more intuitive and efficient insight into the information, knowledge, and wisdom behind large data. This paper analyzes the basic theory of supporting large data visual analysis from the perspective of cognition, visualization and human-computer interaction emphasized in the field of visual analysis, including the cognitive theory, information visualization theory, Human-Computer Interaction and user interface theory. On this basis, this paper discusses the information visualization technology for the mainstream application of large data--oriented text, network (graph), space-time, multidimensional visualization technology. At the same time, we discuss the human-computer interaction technology that supports visual analysis, including interface metaphor and interaction component, multi-scale/Multi focus /multi-side interaction technology, post-wimp-oriented natural interaction technology. Finally, it points out the bottleneck problem and technical challenge in the field of large data visual analysis.
