Sina Science and technology news in Beijing August 30 morning, mobile applications research company Flurry released the latest report, mobile applications from the United States accounted for the total number of global mobile applications in 2013 36%, lower than the 2011 45%. This suggests that the United States is losing its lead in the field of mobile application development. This trend is similar to that of the traditional software industry. In the 2008, U.S. companies developed software that accounted for about 68% of global software sales, but the share has fallen in recent years. It is clear that mobile applications are becoming a global industry. But Flurry's report also points out that apps from American companies are more interactive and can attract more users. If you consider the amount of time users spend in their applications, including the number of users and user interaction, U.S. companies are still leading the application, but the proportion has fallen from 75% in 2011 to 70% in 2013. If you consider the user distribution of the application, the situation is slightly different. In the United States, for example, 59% of apps used by users come from domestic companies, up from 64% in China. In Britain and Brazil, however, the ratio is only 13% and 8%, respectively. Simon Khalaf, of Flurry, said: "The use of American companies for development is only 16% of the time spent by Chinese users." He pointed out that China's rapid development, large-scale application market will lead to a further decline in this proportion. The problem with this data is that American app developers rarely consider localized applications, but mostly only target English-speaking cultures. Meanwhile, application developers in other countries have been thinking about the globalization of applications. For example, developers in Finland, Denmark, Bulgaria and Slovenia have begun to take advantage of the opportunities for localization, including "Angry Birds" developers, Finnish Rovio, "rope-cutting" developers, Russian zepto Labs, and Fruit Ninja developers, Australia's half Brick UBM. At present, the cost of application development is relatively low, which drives the globalization of the application market, and the application store makes the application of the global release more convenient. But Flurry says the cost of application promotion is rising. Another market research firm, Fiksu, pointed out in Thursday that the cost of users in the U.S. market has reached its highest level since 2011, with $1.80 per user in July this year, 20% per user in June and a record high since December 2011. Facebook's mobile app advertising platform is driving competition for apps, and more users are willing to spend, forcing application developers to invest more. At present, applications from large developers occupy the forefront of the major application store rankings, resulting in new applications difficult to enter the top 250. So the App Store has become a winner-all market. However, according to Flurry's report, many of the winners are not from the United States. (D-Gold)
