The relationship between social networks and productivity

Bosses who prohibit employees from playing social networking during their office hours may have made a wrong decision. According to the news, Evolv, a start-up, has published a report that says hourly employees using social networks are more efficient than they don't use them, and the more they play, the more efficient they are. EVOLV monitors the world's top 500 companies with hundreds of indicators.

In general, Evolv found that hourly employees use up to four social networks at a time, such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or LinkedIn. These employees have better sales performance than hourly employees who do not use social networks, and are quicker at handling customer service issues. In addition, the latter in the company's term of office on average 94 days, than the former 83 days more than 11 days.

Second, the more social networking types that hourly employees play, the more efficient they may be. Employees who use 5 or more social networks have a 1.5% and a 2.8% higher rate of sales performance and handling customer service problems than those who use only 4 or fewer social networks. Perhaps for more sought-after reasons, the group's term is 92 days or so, below the 94-day period.

Of course, we cannot conclude that the more social networks play, the more efficient employees are. Evolv points out that the results are at best an indicator of the company's computer culture, after all, some people will be addicted to social networks and affect work, such as the previous popular "stealing food." Others may be handy on social networks, but they are not the same in actual work. Finally, the above conclusion is for hourly employees and does not apply to full-time employees.
