US reviews website Yelp launches meal and delivery service

In Tuesday, Yelp said in a blog that it would also offer bookings for spas, yoga halls, hair salons and dental clinics. By launching the new service, Yelp wants to attract and retain advertisers. The local merchant on the Yelp site is the "lifeline" of Yelp, which last year accounted for more than 75% of its revenue from the business. Offering meals and room service will help attract users to use Yelp for a longer period of time and prove that Yelp can drive user consumption. Currently, users have gone through Yelp to find restaurants. Brian Blair, Wedge partner analyst Blaine Blaire, said: "It's a good idea to move into a meal based transaction because Yelp can bring speed and instant gratification." It is difficult to say whether the business can easily be extended to markets other than San Francisco and New York, but even if it covers only large cities, the service will still attract users to use Yelp frequently and bring revenue to the company. "Yelp said it would charge a certain fee for each meal, but did not disclose what the fees were." By partnering with the OpenTable service, Yelp has previously helped users through the site to make restaurant bookings. So far this year, Yelp's share price has risen 98%.
