You think you can do something interesting by running your own business.

Do you think you can start your own company and do interesting things and work with your favorite employees? Then you're wrong.

Everyone has a loving part in their work. It is possible to communicate with people, telephone sales or make beautiful spreadsheets and PPT, everyone will have their own preferences. But on the contrary, the part that people dislike at work is often an integral part of work. Interestingly, when people hear that I'm an entrepreneur, they think I can do all the fun I want to do. But this is only part of the truth, not the whole truth. If you compare life to a movie, it's just the first frame of the trailer.

The truth is often this: entrepreneurship forces entrepreneurs to do the things they least dislike for a long time, and then give them a short period to do what they love.

We follow this pattern in the hope that one day, the cause we are trying to create will allow us to spend more and more time on the things we love and spend less time on things we don't like.

The thing I hate the most

As far as I am concerned, what I hate to do is to etch product photos. This tedious repetitive work is as unpleasant as washing dishes after a meal. However, the good thing about this "forced" entrepreneur is that you have to learn all kinds of interesting skills, whether you want it or not. Like me, I really hate etching photos, but I do.

It's no good doing something you hate.

There are many advantages to doing something that you are not interested in.

First of all, I can understand all aspects of the industry I am engaged in. Knowing is important because if you want someone else to take your place, you have to have a general idea of the ability of others to work and what will happen next.

Second, you can avoid being cheated. If I have never etched a photograph, and someone and I have been on wild speculations, etching 10 pictures and receiving thousands of dollars, I cannot refute it at all. However, if I am tortured by etched images, I will know how much I am willing to pay for this kind of work.

Finally, try annoying things before you know that maybe you don't hate it that much. Maybe your intuition will hate to do something, but when you actually build your company, you have to keep doing what you think you hate until you find someone who can do better than you.

Employee misunderstanding

When I was chatting with some employees who had a steady monthly salary, I was always amazed by the proportion of complaints I had in the conversation. These people hate their bosses, too long commute time, hate non-stop phone calls, hate and customer exchange, hate products, hate meetings, coffee, tea, milk, and toilets, for them, life can not meet, there is no hate. In fact, everything they hate is trivial and insignificant, just passing through their lives and just being hated by them.

On the contrary, I rarely hear employees gushing about how much they love their jobs, even if they really like their jobs. It's true that there are ups and downs in your work, but on the whole, most of the founders I've met are thankful for their daily experiences. They won't spend the day without a brain, and then hope that tomorrow will be a little faster than today. They enjoy working for their "children" every day.

The analogy of entrepreneurship is more suitable for raising children. Although I do not have children, but based on life experience, I think these two things have a lot of similarities.

In the first few years, parents have to do a series of things they hate: casually wipe the urine for the child, sleep enough every day, mood ups and downs, do not know the needs of children, when there are problems will take a long time and a lot of energy to solve.

Then look at the entrepreneur's first few years: the dry dirty live dirty, sleep enough every day, mood ups and downs, do not know what the company needs, when there are problems to spend a long time and a lot of energy to solve.

Entrepreneurship is full of trifles, endless, too much to drown you. But when you are about to give up, your child suddenly in the babbling called the first "Dad", or first learned to walk, that moment, you two years of tears and sweat vanished.

Sometimes, doing something you hate is the only way you can understand and appreciate what you love.

We cannot give up the former and do the latter directly. This is the real feeling of entrepreneurship.
