According to foreign media reports, Zynga has acquired DNA Games, the social game developer, which is the 14th takeover deal of Zynga in the past year.
The games developed by DNA Games include the Facebook platform "Casino City", "Slot City" and "Barworld". Casino City is the most popular game of DNA games and currently has 1.5 million active users per month. The company, headquartered in San Francisco, will remain independent after the takeover by Zynga.
DNA Games was founded in 2009, with the founders Joen Li Hu (Jon Lee) and Shawn Hass (Shaun Haase). DNA Games has been invested in battery ventures and Bain Capital.
Many of Zynga's acquisitions in the past year have been aimed at acquiring talent, not corporate assets. The social-game giant has also bought other companies, including social-game developers Bonfire UBM, social-browser developer flock, Japanese social-gaming company Unoh (now Zynga's Japan), mobile game developer Newtoy, etc.
Zynga's rapid growth has boosted the company's workforce. It was reported in February this year that Zynga's valuation has reached $10 billion trillion. In addition, Zynga wants to launch new games after Farmville and CityVille to keep revenue growth.
