According to foreign http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/31646.html "> Media reports, Dell may release public cloud products and solutions by the end of 2013.

Dell is likely to use the OpenStack platform as the basis for its public cloud, and Dell will not post premature public cloud services based on immature technologies, such as HP (lying down, no), said Nnamdi Orakwue, vice president of cloud operations.

If Dell does not release the OpenStack public cloud until the end of the year, it will be behind a lot of big companies that have already released OpenStack projects. OpenStack, one of the original company members of the project, Rackspace already has a openstack cloud that ran in August 2012. Hewlett-Packard also released a public beta version based on OpenStack last year. IBM has also joined the OpenStack project, but no public cloud products have been released so far.

Orakwue is dissatisfied with HP's cloud strategy because the OpenStack code is immature and HP needs to make changes before releasing the cloud. He said that Dell's cloud strategy would be tightly linked to OpenStack code, so users with open source technology could easily connect the OpenStack cloud to Dell's public cloud.

Dell is an early supporter of the OpenStack project, and the Dell Chief architect Rob Hirschfeld is also a OpenStack board member. Currently, Dell focuses on private cloud OpenStack deployments, encouraging users to run Dell Services with Crowbar, Crowbar is a tool that simplifies cloud deployment and provides reference architectures. For public cloud services, Dell works with Rackspace, whose systems are compatible with the Amazon Web Services API. Dell's public cloud products to be released at the end of the year will contain this functionality and do not need to rely on partners. This year, OpenStack supporters are expected to release a new version of the code in the spring and fall respectively.
