September 18 News, according to Science and technology blog TechCrunch reported, in order to promote the development of the game and enter the western market, the Japanese mobile game giant Gree has just acquired the U.S. game Studio app Ant UBM, the acquisition amount has not been disclosed.
The company has previously collaborated with app Ant on the Android game. The co-founder of App Ant includes 2D and 3D animators Blaine Ferredric (Brian Frederick) and user Experience designer Paul Pirey (Paul Pierre), who had Andreessen Horowitz supported by the famous VC company TinyCo , STORM8 and art power. All members of APP Ant, including four co-founder, will join Gree.
Gree's recent acquisitions have been brisk, with $210 million trillion in acquisitions of Funzio, and a 104 million-dollar acquisition of mobile social gaming network OpenFeint last year. Other gaming companies such as Zynga have been hit, and Zynga is seen by investors as lacking growth potential on the Facebook platform, and a 180 million-dollar deal to buy "you, I guess" developer Omgpop, has also had a negative impact.
Gree in the last quarter to achieve revenue of 40.1 billion yen (about 508.5 million U.S. dollars), net profit of 12.3 billion yen (about 156 million U.S. dollars), its revenue rose 90% year-on-year, but a decline in the chain, because the Japanese government has banned gree used to rely on a fairly lucrative game mechanism.
As Japan's domestic market tends to saturate, gree is targeting the US, Europe and other overseas markets to achieve future growth. It plans to add more card games and mock games (such as Dino Life) and optimize existing games, thereby expanding the average income per user (ARPU).
