According to the Economic Times of India, China's largest handset maker Millet recently said that India is an important market, the company plans to set up research and development centers in Bangalore, India, to focus on creating customized products for Local users.

"In the coming year, we hope to have a significant development in India," said Hugo Barak, vice president of Millet International operations, in an interview. We plan to set up a research and development center to recruit a team of designers, product managers and software engineers to tailor products to the Indian market and not just localize in India. "After joining Millet in 2013, Palawan has successfully expanded its international market for millet, such as Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and now India." In addition, Millet also plans to enter Indonesia, Thailand, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and other markets.

In India's 6-time Flipkart website, the company has sold 95,000 Millet 3 smartphones, each priced at 13999 rupees (about RMB 1423). Critics say the supply is only one-tenth of the demand, which annoys thousands of potential buyers. Barak admits that since the hardware and antenna calibration systems are different from the Indian market, there are problems with handset production in the Indian market, and products from mainland China and Taiwan do not apply to the Indian market. As a result, a limited number of products were sold out at the start of the campaign. "India is the most unusual market we have ever encountered. ”

Millet hopes to gain a foothold in the Indian market, but India's smartphone market is intensifying and the lowest-priced device is even 1999 rupees (about 203 yuan). The Millet user interface, which uses Android, is similar to Apple's, with a price of only one-fourth of the iphone. Thanks to the success of online sales, the company has become the first smartphone supplier in China, surpassing the established manufacturers such as Samsung. In India, Millet also adopted the same strategy.

To address local problems, Palawan hopes to build a team design product in the local market. Barak explained and highlighted the technical challenge: "With the development of two LTE technologies in India, the problem will become more and more serious." Therefore, our products should support 2G, GPRS, 3G, Fdd-lte and Tdd-lte technology. India is the only market that needs to support 5 models of mobile phones. "Millet 4, released in India at the end of December, will support two models of LTE technology."

Barak said he hoped that the Chinese and Indian markets would be able to do so at least until next year, and that the two markets were of equal importance. In addition, Millet also plans to set up in Bangalore to cover after-sales service team call center. At present, the millet in India's customer service, call center and after-sales service are outsourced.

August 26, Millet in India opened a price of 5999 rupees (about 610 yuan) smartphone red meter 1s, the phone will be officially opened on September 2.
