April 27 News, North Korea's only 3G network operator Koryolink said the company's number of users in a slightly more than a year time, up to 2 million people.

Koryolink began providing mobile services at the end of 2008, with the number of users reaching 1 million after more than three years. Koryolink has become the most visible example of successful overseas cooperation in the North Korean market, with the company's joint holdings being the Egyptian orascom Telecommunications media and technology holding company (Orascom EADS Media and Marvell) and the North Korean Ministry of PTT, which holds a 75% majority stake , the remaining shares are held by the latter.

It is hard to see mobile phones in North Korea before the Koryolink start, but in recent years this has changed, and now the streets of Pyongyang have seen many people using their mobile phones to call and send text messages. Koryolink services to users are not much different from other countries ' mobile operators, including calling and texting, but there is a key difference, that is, Koryolink users can not directly play international long-distance, can not send text messages to overseas users, and can not access the Internet through mobile phones.

Some users, especially those who live overseas, are allowed to make international calls and have recently been granted access to the Internet, but these users ' mobile phones are not connected to most local phone numbers. North Korea remains one of the world's most closed countries, and nationals are not allowed to get in touch directly with foreigners. Shortly after Google's chairman, Eric Schmidt, visited North Korea, Koryolink announced that it would launch mobile internet services for overseas audiences, a news headline in the world's major newspapers.

Koryolink has been rolling out the service for several weeks today, but the company has scaled back its services. The service, originally intended for tourists and permanent expatriates, has now been changed to the latter.
