Beijing time July 10 Morning News, Phoenix New Media (Nyse:feng) announced in Wednesday, the company has promoted Lyapunov as president of the company, immediate effect.

Prior to the promotion, Lyapunov had been the new Media coo (COO) of Phoenix for the past 8 years, and had been the CFO of the company between June 2006 and November 2010.

Lyapunov has more than 20 years of experience in startups and listed companies that span the Internet, media, finance and telecommunications sectors in the U.S. and China markets. Prior to joining the Phoenix New media, Lyapunov had served as the COO and CFO of TechEdge, an entrepreneurial listed company, from 2004 to 2006, before being the president of the US subsidiary of Optical Communications, from 2002 to 2004.

Lyapunov founded the New York Internet start-up company Global villager in 1995 as CEO of the company, which was subsequently acquired by Nasdaq-listed company STARTEC Global Communications. Between 1993 and 1999, Lyapunov worked for Verizon Communications, securities company Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette), Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley, and previous software engineers and senior Internet advisors.
