Qualcomm announces quarterly dividend increase of about 13%

Beijing time March 10 Morning news, Qualcomm Board announced recently, will raise quarterly dividend 13% to 21.5 cents per common stock. The increase will take effect after the latest stock dividend has been completed.　　Qualcomm announced January 14 this year that the most recent dividend will be 19 cents per share. The surge was mainly due to a rapid rise in demand for high-end 3G smartphones and tablets, which led to stable revenue and profit growth for Qualcomm. This is the 6th time that Qualcomm has raised its dividend in the past 5 years.　　Qualcomm has been paying dividends for the past 9 years, and the current dividend rate is 1.33%. At present, Qualcomm's balance sheet is strong, with a total of 19.107 billion dollars in cash and tradable securities.　　Qualcomm will use the cash to make new acquisitions and pay dividends to shareholders. Qualcomm's main competitors include Bo Tong and Texas Instruments.　　Recently, the two companies ' quarterly dividends were 9 cents and 13 cents respectively, with dividend yields of 0.85% and 1.42% respectively. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2011, Qualcomm's profits hit record highs, with net profits rising 39% per cent year-on-year.　　Qualcomm Management believes that the Snapdragon platform and product differentiation will promote Qualcomm's 2011 fiscal year performance continues to grow.
