Garrett Camp, founder of Uber and StumbleUpon, is developing new projects with the backing of venture startup Expa. Not long ago, Camp raised 50 million U.S. dollars for these new projects and invited Foursquare co-founder Naveen Selvadurai to help him.
Most recently, Camp and Selva Dauley started talking about one of the new startups they founded on Twitter and Facebook: Reserve.
They did not leak much information about Reserve, but they said that this fall, "a new dining experience will come."
Sounds like Reserve seems to be rival to OpenTable, the online ordering platform. Not long ago, OpenTable was just acquired by Priceline for $ 2.6 billion.
According to information on LinkedIn, Reserve has captured a large number of industry elites. Timothy Knight, former vice president at Fuse Networks, is the CTO of Reserve. He joined Reserve last November. Entrepreneur Drew Shepard is Reserve's managing director. He has developed the iPhone dock Lumawake and founded Pixl Now. Josef Loria, former HBO, is currently Reserve's manager.
It is a good thing to launch an attack on OpenTable. After OpenTable was sold, many people complained on Twitter. Many people think that OpenTable could have done much better than it is now. Maybe Reserve will make those people feel good.
Other Expa projects include OpenLikes and Operator. OpenLikes is a social media "experiment," allegedly helping you find people with the same interests. (Tan think)
