In Wednesday, South Korea's leading provider of online and mobile services, SK Planet, announced the launch of its open electric business platform "Elevenia", officially into Southeast Asia's fastest growing market-Indonesia.
Hugo Nets from Indonesia's Jakarta Post March 20 reported that Elevenia by SK Planet and Indonesia's second largest telecoms operator XL Axiata launched. Elevenia is based on the Korean popular online shopping platform 11street professional advantages tailored. 11street is also affiliated with the SK Planet Company, with visitors reaching 17 million per month.
In May 2013, SK Planet Company signed a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian telecom company XL Axiat. A few months later, the two sides set up the joint venture XL Planet to prepare for the launch of the Elevenia platform. XL Planet's shares were held by both sides 50%, the initial financing amount of 42 million U.S. dollars, a total of 100 employees.
The reason for SK Planet to enter the Indonesian market is because of the huge potential of the Indonesian market and the rapid growth in internet penetration, said Planet, CEO Lee Joon-sung of XL company. We will integrate 11street on the mobile side and the traditional Internet professional advantages to build Elevenia, to provide local customers with better electrical services.
As an open electric business platform, Elevenia will provide a 24-hour all-weather service to maximize customer convenience. There will be 550,000 products on sale in Elevenia, including fashion, cosmetics, baby supplies, electrical appliances, furniture supplies, music products and books and so on.
Sellers can receive platform-provided "package" training services in three locations in Jakarta. Training services include market consulting, teaching people how to sell products in open platforms, and free photography services.
As of 2013, Indonesia's Internet penetration rate has reached 31%, in addition, mobile phone users have accounted for two-thirds of the total population, so Indonesia by the major e-commerce companies as a huge lucrative market.
The Vela Asia expects Indonesia's e-commerce market to grow from $8 billion trillion in 2013 to $25 billion in 2016, according to the Hugo Net.
