Author: BV Wired "Wired" August 18, 2010 Nielsen Market research company data show that after the peak in 2007, people's average number of mobile phone calls in the year down. And our talk time shortened--2005 years, the average call time is 3 minutes; now the average call time is nearly 1 minutes. We are in the midst of change. In other words, is experiencing a fascinating cultural evolution: the end of mobile phone calls. This shift is particularly evident among young people. Some college students do not use their smartphones to make a phone call for many days. A more than 20-year-old entrepreneur I met recently took 30 seconds to find the key to the phone. This generation does not call because everyone maintains long-lasting, lightweight connections in many other ways: texting, chatting on the Internet, and information on the site of social networking sites. Not only do we have more choices than before, but we have a better choice: These new contacts expose the flaws in the design of voice calls. It should have been eliminated. In other words, the phone cannot provide any information about the state of the caller, so we always disturb each other, and the other communications tools we use are much more polite. Instant Messaging lets us know if they're busy without annoying our friends; texting allows us to connect to each other differently, and we can spend more time thinking about what we want to say. In fact, these recently popular media alternatives to telephones may be the only thing that helps maintain the presence of telephones. Most people will use emails and SMS reminders in advance when they have important phone calls. In fact, by using a mix of communication media, we have a deep power law that we use in voice calls. As most of the time spent on the phone has shifted to other media, we still make a few calls. But these calls will take longer to talk about. In other words, we will competitively fewer calls, but we will say more.
