computing resources to obtain Susecloud user needs protagonist son

As for the development of China's cloud computing market, the industry bosses have expressed their views, which is very important and everyone agrees that the role of China's cloud computing market is becoming more and more important, Alan Clark said cloud computing in the Chinese market is becoming more and more important, And he observed a growing interest in the application of private cloud and public cloud solutions. For users of SuSE cloud, the most common requirement is to get the computing resources needed to develop tests faster.

CSDN: What do you think of the current development of cloud computing market in China? What is SUSE Cloud's Landing and promotion plan in China?

Alan Clark: Cloud computing is becoming more and more important in the Chinese market, and we are seeing a growing interest in the application of private cloud and public cloud solutions. As a result, many local businesses are developing cloud services offerings for infrastructure-as-service (IaaS) and software-as-services (SaaS).

SuSE is working with partners and customers to help them build the infrastructure needed to deliver these services based on the SuSE cloud. We have been OpenStack Hong Kong, Huawei Cloud Computing Conference and our own SuSE Open forum and other industry events to showcase our SuSE cloud technology.

CSDN: Please describe the typical application scenario for Susecloud.

Alan Clark: We find that companies are using SuSE cloud for a variety of reasons. The most common use is to get the computing resources needed to develop tests faster. Development work requires frequent resource acquisition and the ability to dynamically configure these resources. In addition, the quality assurance process needs to access a lot of servers when measuring, but also needs to measure the load, but the frequency is not high. By creating a library of on-demand shared resources, the private cloud allows development and warranty to acquire the required resources when needed and release those resources upon completion. Allowing developers to use the cloud creates additional value-as they become increasingly aware of the functionality that the cloud plays in designing new applications, they may create cloud-optimized workloads to correspond to other scenarios.

Some users are using SuSE cloud for large data and other analytical processing or batch applications, such as risk modeling or impersonation. These are time-sensitive, standardized applications that run for a short time and require a lot of computing power. SUSE Cloud's on-demand scalability and flexibility meet the short-term computing needs of these applications, making dedicated resources no longer necessary, increasing utilization, and reducing delivery costs.

Other scenarios include deploying platform-as-services (PaaS), network applications, or other new applications that dynamically expand capabilities based on load requirements.

SUSE Cloud provides support for hybrid KVM, Xen, Microsofthyper-v, and VMware vsphere environments, and because of the increased automation and compilation of multiple virtual machine hypervisor environments, some of our customers are using SUSE Cloud as a management interface for their virtual environment. This makes it easier for users to deploy workloads based on performance requirements and licensing costs according to the type of virtual machine hypervisor.

In general, customers use SuSE cloud to increase the flexibility of their business, optimize resource utilization while maintaining the security and control of data and systems.

SUSE Cloud 4 new function Analysis

Boiling to the ground, cloud computing has gone through many years, users no longer impetuous, and began to seek a pragmatic solution to cloud computing. For a time, everyone began to dive into the cloud of the road. Many cloud service providers are accelerating the pace of product updates, SuSE is no exception. For the latest release of SuSE Cloud 4,alan Clark, SuSE Cloud 4 supports CEPH distributed storage systems in terms of new functionality, and commercial hardware that reduces total storage investment creates a large number of scalable, highly reliable clusters.

CSDN: What are the breakthroughs relative to SUSE Cloud 3,suse Cloud 4? Can you focus on this? In addition, what are the obvious changes in user requirements?

Alan Clark:suse Cloud 4 is based on the latest OpenStack version--icehouse. SUSE Cloud 4 deployed a fully supported open source distributed storage Project Ceph, which was published as a technology preview.

It also includes support for VMware's advanced features, which enhance the integration of VMware and OpenStack environments. In addition, SUSE Cloud 4 provides Vsan support, which enables scale-out storage in virtual machine management programs.

Not only that, SUSE Cloud 4 simplifies workload deployments while providing a higher level of scalability and automation. Susecloud 4 Implements "database as service", "Load Balancing as service" and "Firewall as service". and SuSE Cloud improves application scalability by improving the integration of services and other cloud services, such as computing, storage, and networking. Development services automate control and coordination of multiple virtual machines according to a set of predefined templates.

Csdn:suse Cloud 4 supports CEPH distributed storage systems in terms of new functionality, what value can they bring to users?

Alan Clark:ceph is the ideal choice for cloud deployment, providing distributed block and object storage with no single point of failure or architectural capacity constraints. With Ceph, businesses can create a large number of scalable, highly reliable clusters using commercial hardware that reduces overall storage investment. Therefore, the inclusion of Ceph in SuSE Cloud 4 increases the functionality and flexibility of cloud infrastructure deployments. For example, they can use Ceph to provide an object storage cloud, back-end storage of the image library, or to provide continuous VM storage for workloads running in the cloud. SUSE Cloud 4 automates Administrationserver installation with SUSE Cloud Ceph, thereby streamlining OpenStack deployments through Ceph.

Chinese developer into OpenStack second largest contributor group

SUSE joined OpenStack for more than three years, succeeded in OpenStack's governance from the original birthplace Rackspace transition to the independent Open Source Foundation, and constantly grow OpenStack team. CSDN Cloud Computing Conference on the OpenStack training, but also let us see the Chinese users of OpenStack enthusiasm. Alan also bluntly that Chinese developers are the second largest contributor to the OpenStack project, after the United States.

CSDN: Can you tell me the role of SuSE in OpenStack projects over the years? Has the role of SuSE in the whole project changed from the beginning to the present?

Alan Clark:suse joined OpenStack for 3 years, focusing on three major areas. First, we work with other members of the OpenStack community to successfully transition OpenStack's governance from its original birthplace Rackspace to an independent open source foundation. As one of the original platinum promoters, SuSE has applied his years of experience to the foundation's creation. Second, we have developers working closely with other members of this technology community to upgrade and expand the capabilities of OpenStack, and ultimately by creating OpenStack's first corporate release SuSE Cloud, we help our customers quickly use the functionality that the community creates.

It is noteworthy that developers from China constitute the second largest contributor to the OpenStack project, after the United States: These include researchers, students, enthusiasts and professionals.

CSDN: What are the differences between users in the Chinese market and users in foreign markets in using cloud computing?

Alan Clark: Cloud computing poses a similar challenge to the Chinese market as it does in other markets. A major challenge from a business perspective is to adjust the business process to maximize the value of cloud computing. Many of today's business processes are not designed to take advantage of the agility offered by cloud computing at the beginning of the design. Businesses need to reassess these processes.

CSDN: Cloud computing, open source and agile infrastructure are changing the world, although OpenStack in the process of implementation there are many problems to be solved, but the industry's openstack still high expectations. How do you view the development of OpenStack in China? For domestic users, what advice can you share?

Alan Clark: First, use the power of the industry in the most efficient and focused way. Spend your time and energy in areas that will bring you the most value and the power to use the industry. The OpenStack ecosystem offers a wide range of products and services that can help you gain more in less time. Join the OpenStack community and share your best practices and experiences.

Second, set a series of realistic milestones that can be achieved at the same time, with an evolving mature model.
