Zynga Brain drain continues chief game designer Reynolds leaves

The departure of Reynolds was another major blow to Zynga, which has had several senior executives since last year.

Zynga's brain drain began last August, when the company released a lower-than-expected second-quarter results after chief operating Officer John Chabotte (John Schappert) announced his departure.

Before joining Zynga in 2009, Reynolds was chief executive and creative director of Big Huge games, who had launched a game of Alpha Centauri, Rise of nations. But he has a different view of Zynga's casual games like Farmville. He initially joined Zynga's goal of bringing the game to the larger mass market.

Reynolds, who heads Zynga's East Baltimore studio, has launched FrontierVille and CityVille 2 games for Zynga. Zynga will report its quarterly results on February 6.
