FAA agrees to CNN launch drone news acquisition test

United States time on Monday, January 12, CNN announced that it had reached an agreement with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which agreed that CNN could use drones to test news gathering.

The CNN test was conducted in collaboration with Georgia Tech study Cato. David Vigilante, CNN's senior vice president, said in a press release that CNN's goal was to turn hobby-grade equipment into a tool for making high-definition television news. FAA director Michael Huerta says the drone provides an important opportunity for news organizations, and the FAA hopes the agreement will help secure the integration of unmanned news collection techniques and operating procedures with the air-control system.

The signing of the agreement is significant because, in addition to the entertainment industry (which the FAA agreed last year that several television and film production companies will use drones for filming) and Agriculture (FAA 6th this month allowed drones to be used for crop monitoring), the FAA did not allow drones for commercial use. A loosening of policy may clear the air for the drone's business.

Drones are widely used, as we have in the future of the drone, in agriculture, energy, real estate and construction, rapid response and emergency services, news, logistics and transportation, photography, research and protection, law enforcement, entertainment and other industries have a broad application prospects. In journalism, the use of drones can be a quicker and safer way of reporting breaking news/disaster/war zones than hiring.
