Many bloggers know but rarely used strategies called link baiting. Today I'm going to explain what a link bait is, and everyone, not just the blogger, should use it to build high-quality links.

This strategy has been around for some time now, but I don't think many people know what it is and how to use it to benefit. I think the word "link bait" can be considered a black hat technique, which is why most people don't consider it as a legitimate tactic.

Still, link bait is just a way to build links: It's better than you looking for links everywhere, and you're bringing links through unique and popular content.

How does the link bait work?

Link bait is like fishing. You publish a new page (which I will say later) on a topic (which can be health, or financial, etc.) and make it available for free. Hopefully others will think of the content as fresh and interesting and link to it. These articles are bait, and these links are the fish you catch.

By creating the right pages, you can get a huge number of links with little or no effort.

For example, about a year ago, on another website, I wrote an article about the Florida Update (Florida update). After the initial update, I spent a month or two analyzing the results, and then I released a comment on what the update was.

So far, the article has received 88 links. In my opinion, the best link is the ODP from Google News category. My article actually appeared in the top 10 and was cited by many other top rankings in Google's search for the "Florida Update" keyword.

So what's so special about this article?

When I didn't intend to use it as a link bait, it turned out to be a typical "Hook" page. Performancing Blog has a very good link bait summary, here I will explain in depth.

In essence, 5 types of "hooks" are established on the link. They are: news, opposite (contrary), attacks (Attack), Resources (Resource) and humor (Humor).

A news hooks is the industry news you report. But it's not just a makeover of someone else's article. It should be unique, or it may be a summary of many different viewpoints, or it might be something that no one else has dug up. A news hook can also contain a story that you have proven to be false.

The opposite (contrary) hooks is that you have a different view of what some people say. It should be something that is prominent in the industry and is controversial.

For example, if I were to write an article stating that Danny Sullivan's latest theory was nonsense (bunk), it would generate a lot of gossip. Especially if I can provide conclusive evidence to support my statement.

Mike Grehan recently sent an article in ClickZ where he again pointed out that he didn't believe in Google Sandbox. He even cites other articles to prove that the sandbox (Sandbox) was knocked down.

Soon after he released this article (one weeks ago), many other SEM s jumped on him, claiming that there was evidence of the sandbox.

If you use Yahoo's Site Explorer to see who links to this article, you will see that Yahoo! has included (picked up) about 80 links to this article. I want to say that Mike has successfully made the link bait.

The attack (Attack) hooks is more advanced than the opposite (contrary) hooks, a deeper level of refutation attacks by the individual initiated against others. SEOmoz's initial article was almost an attack hook, but when they edited its article to make it less offensive, they hesitated about Mike Grehan's article about the sandbox and turned it into personal. They handled the matter with a low profile for their reputation. Who knows, maybe this article will be considered an attack on SEOmoz, and it will produce similar rumors (buzz).

A resource hook can be viewed more as a report page. It brings together a lot of information and refines some ideas for the reader.

In fact, the site is very much like it. We took a lot of news, and then we extracted most of the things that were meaningful and what it was. Then someone else will get the article, and some will republish the article, or at least link it.

Finally, the humour hook. With this link bait, you can send out jokes, funny stories, wacky or funny pictures, or anything else you're authorized to get links to.

There are a lot of blogs like obscure store& Reading Reactiveness and Sgt Town Misfit, searching the web for quirky and interesting stories, then releasing them and encouraging others to link to them. And it must be in effect--small Town misfit has more than 1600 Yahoo! links, while the obscure store has more than 1700 links.

So, if you ever worry about the number of links, you'd better become an authority (authority) and consider the link bait in your arsenal. It will be very effective, quick, and simple to get links. And, through these links, you will build your reputation and brand online, and more and more people will recognize you.
