The move is intended to create a high-profile local brand. Sangive, sales director of Huawei's India equipment business, said in an interview that the centre will be responsible for the overall design of mobile phones and internal software for the Indian market as well as end-to-end testing of Psanjeev products. However, the production of these products will be completed in China. Sangive points out that the company is trying to make India's outstanding software capabilities and China's strong manufacturing capabilities, and strive to achieve "the best of both worlds." Huawei has launched three smartphones for the Indian market today: IDEOSX5, IDEOSX2 and ideoschat--, the target group for the three handsets are young consumers in the city. The company plans to launch eight to 10 new handsets this year. "Our products will be positioned on smartphones, tablets and 3G handsets," said Anand Nalans Anand Narang, director of marketing and solutions at Huawei's India equipment business. Sangive said the company would focus on developing products that cost more than 5,000 rupees. Narang said ZTE plans to launch its Tablet PC products in India in the third quarter of this year (July-September). Huawei's goal is to gain market share of 5~7% in India's mobile phone market in 2013. Sangive said: "We plan to set up two companies in the region, responsible for product distribution and after-sales service." Narang added: "We plan to launch the retail business directly, while starting to build our brand awareness." "At today's new mobile phone conference, ZTE's head said the IDEOSX5 smartphone, priced at 14,999 rupees, was aimed primarily at young professionals, while the main audience for IDEOSX2 touch-screen handsets (priced at 8,999 rupees) were young people. The Ideoschat phone, which has a touch screen and a full keyboard at the same time (priced at 8,199 rupees), focuses on young people and fashion.
