Freescale has revolutionized the world's electronics, and Coldfire plays a pivotal role in the Freescale 32-bit microprocessor series. Manufacturers of embedded products rely on Coldfire microprocessors. The attractive price/performance ratio, perfect series of standard products and widely supported development tools can provide the system designers with great freedom and various means to create a unique solution for users.
Coldfire mcf547x/mcf548x Series single-chip microcomputer-the 4th generation of enhanced Coldfire core
With the continuous development of single-chip technology, 32-bit embedded applications have higher requirements for system performance. To address this challenge, Freescale Semiconductor launched the mcf547x and mcf548x series of single-chip, the first batch of Coldfire based on the 4th generation (V4E) core of the formal products. COLDFIREV4E Core is currently the highest level of integration of the Coldfire core, the product will be rich connectivity peripherals. Its characteristics are as follows:
Rich Communication Peripherals Module
mcf547x and MCF548X series SCM through the integration of various communication peripherals module to provide a wealth of communication functions:
PIN compatible
mcf547x and MCF548X series SCM pin compatible, so that the embedded application system hardware design is easy to cut, for future application system expansion and upgrade, provides flexibility.
Wide range of applications
Coldfire Series Single-chip microcomputer for network interconnection and control equipment, mcf547x work range is 0-70 degrees Celsius, is for commercial terminals (POS) systems, security systems, robotics and medical devices and other applications designed. Application case
Automatic gas stations and ATMs (ATM)-mcf547x Coldfire microprocessor application stations have become an information device. In addition to refueling for customers, gas stations provide owners with the opportunity to sell goods and serve as web-based information portals. Gas stations now include LCD screens with touch screens or keyboards, as well as speakers, barcode scanners, radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, cash registers, and receipt printing devices.
Main advantages
Design challenges
Typical gas station/ATM with several input/output systems, including card reader, collection equipment, barcode scanners, speakers, refueling electronic equipment, touch screen interface. The control chip of the application requires multiple connection interfaces to control the system without adding a large amount of external logic.
A local area network is first required to remotely monitor refueling pumps, printers, and cash registers while collecting diagnostic information and performing system software upgrades. In addition, a separate LAN interface should be provided to connect the gas station to the Internet and directly with the customer for web interaction. Since financial and personal data can be collected at gas stations, it is essential to secure transmission of such information without affecting transactions.
Freescale Solutions
Freescale's mcf547x Processor series is suitable for use as the primary control processor in next generation information devices such as automatic gas stations. The device has a large number of connectivity peripherals, including four programmable serial controllers, two 10/100 Ethernet interfaces, and DMA-SPI (direct memory access-serial peripherals interface), providing a great deal of flexibility for the design. The product supports multiple 10/100 Ethernet connections, which means that gas stations can easily detach remote monitoring and diagnostic information through the customer Web interface. In addition, DMA-SPI can connect to next-generation WAN and pan devices, such as RFID and ZigBee protocol devices, and Bluetooth wireless technology devices. With the hardware-accelerated encryption of the MCF547X device, customers can store and transmit information quickly and securely through any communication peripherals in the system.
