List A large number of related keywords

To find the right keywords, you should first list as many relevant keywords, you can get from several aspects:

Study how competitive these keywords are

After the first step, you should already have a bunch of alternative keywords, usually at least dozens of, probably hundreds of thousands.

Then look at how competitive these keywords, like yesterday, you want to find a relatively small competition, while searching for more (popular) keywords, so the efficiency is relatively high.

There are two indicators to see how competitive the keyword.

One is that each search engine will list the total number of related pages returned by a keyword in the upper-right corner of the search results. This number roughly reflects the number of pages associated with this keyword, and these pages are your competitors.

Another way to judge the competitiveness of a keyword is the price that the keyword needs to be paid for in the PPC AD. You can find the price for a keyword in Yahoo's view Bids tool. Yahoo this set of PPC search tools support Chinese.

You can also open a Google AdWords account, and when you choose a keyword, Google will tell you what price to pay. Or use this Google tool.

Baidu seems to have the same tools. and Sohu.

The price of these keywords is more competitive than the number of competing pages mentioned above. Because behind every price, there is a real person who has done market research and is willing to make real money to compete with you.

Study the number of times these keywords were searched

The competition for keywords is one thing, and another important aspect is whether these keywords are really being searched by users. How many times are you searching? Of course the more searched the better.

Yahoo's PPC query tool lists a keyword has been searched for the specific number of times, in Baidu and Sohu query tool although not listed the specific number of times, but there are listed by the number of searches in 0 to 100 or 100 to 200 different sections, can also roughly determine a keyword is a real search of the situation.

Calculate keyword Effectiveness

With the keyword competition and the number of times to be searched, you can calculate which keyword efficiency is the highest.

The simplest calculation, of course, is the number of searches divided by the degree of competition. You can also make appropriate changes in this formula. For example, in the degree of competition, I think PPC price is more important, so I can change dividend to

Notice here that the absolute digital error of these data is quite large, whether it's Yahoo's query tool or Wordtracker, and it's important that you list the relative numbers between the keywords.

The error of the absolute number of reasons, including a lot of webmasters in yahoo query keyword prices, and so on, these will be recorded in the database, and these inquiries will be to a large extent to the true number of queries confused. And Wordtracker's data come from meta search and dogpile, which doesn't really come from the mainstream search engine, so its data representation is only about 2% to 3%.

But in any case, with these queries and calculations, you can see which of the big list of keywords you've listed are relatively efficient.

Select keywords

The obvious answer is to choose between two or three of the highest-performance keywords you want to use as your homepage. The rest of the relevant keywords are not thrown away, there will be other uses.
