According to overseas media reports, Microsoft confirmed today that it will release the Kinect Software Development Kit (SDK) developed for the Windows platform this spring and is free of charge, and that the fee version is expected to be available "later". Microsoft Research director Craig Mundie and Interactive entertainment business President Don Mattrick revealed that the company was still having an in-house discussion on the SDK this morning. It is reported that the SDK by the Microsoft Research and Development department with the Interactive Entertainment business Unit research and development, software enthusiasts will be able to enter the "deep system", including the control of the machine's internal microphone, sensors and system programming interface. Mundie said: "The company's research in the user interface plays a key role in making the computer intuitive and easy to operate." This series of studies has also been a significant success in many of our products, and Kinect is one of them. "As early as last November, the PC version of the Kinect cracked driver has been posted on the internet." Microsoft initially took a hostile approach to cracking behavior, but eventually turned to encouraging the development of a variety of homemade programs, as long as it did not touch the Kinect hardware. Meanwhile, at the end of last November, Microsoft announced that it would provide the Kinect support XNA development tool in the future. Last December, hardware maker PrimeSense also released an Open-source PC driver for the Kinect and other body-sensing devices.
