Valspar profits fall 24% in second quarter

Beijing time Monday Evening News, paint and paint manufacturer Valspar Corp (VAL) announced that the second quarter as of May 1, net earnings fell 24%, from the same period of 40.8 million U.S. dollars, 38 cents per share, to 31.1 million U.S. dollars, 28 cents per share.  After deducting restructuring spending and other one-off projects, the company earned 36 cents a share in the quarter, in line with the average expectation of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.  Quarterly revenue fell 20%, from $836 million a year earlier to $668 million trillion, below analysts ' average forecast of 742 million dollars. Valspar reiterated that it is expected that the 2009 fiscal year after the adjustment of earnings per share of 1.55-1.65 U.S. dollars. Analysts expect the company to earn 1.52 dollars a year on average.
