What is meant by "indigenous people" is not reached at present in the world. It is generally believed that indigenous people refer to people who flourished in one country or region before the advent of foreign races. As a result of outsiders' invasion and cultural "assimilation", they have become increasingly disadvantaged, such as Native Americans in the Americas, Maori in Oceania and Inuit near the Arctic Circle. According to estimates by relevant UN agencies, over 5000 indigenous groups and over 370 million indigenous people live in about 70 countries on five continents. Due to long-term discrimination, many Aboriginal people live in very poor conditions and the culture of some indigenous groups is on the brink of extinction.
