CNET Science and Information Network June 1 International report industry executives and analysts expect Microsoft to unveil a new motion-sensing gaming machine that is more sophisticated than the Wii this week at the E3 show. Sony will also demonstrate a new PSP go game that eliminates the need to configure the CD-ROM drive, challenging Nintendo's latest DS handheld gaming machine and restricting competition on Apple's gaming platform. According to U.S. monthly statistics, Nintendo Wii game consoles in the United States sales have fallen by more than 50%. According to data from market analyst NPD, the Wii game console has fallen to 340,000 units in April this year from 714,000 a year earlier, as a result of a lack of game programming support to drive sales growth. Nintendo has sold 50 million parts since it launched its Wii games in November 2006, with Microsoft's Xbox 360 being released one year ahead of the Wii, with a total offering of 30 million, and a total sale of Sony PS3 of 23 million. Compared with Sony PSP sales 50 million, Nintendo DS handset sales are 100 million units. Nintendo will launch a Wii MotionPlus game console this month, but analysts and video game blogs expect Microsoft to launch a camera-equipped gaming machine; the Sony PSP GO will be listed this fall, with a slide control panel and 16GB flash memory for storage of games and movies.
