Whether it is "Iron Man" or "The Edge of Tomorrow", the film's mechanical armor is amazing, the brain hole open. If a soldier can really wear such a combat device, will it change the history of human weapons?

And the United States is doing real research on exoskeleton weapons. The U.S. Department of Defense Advanced Planning Research (DARPA) has signed a contract with Harvard University to grant 2.9 million dollars to invite professional agencies to develop machine exoskeleton equipment.

The equipment will be used to enhance the muscle strength of soldiers and the flexibility of movement. This set of devices is known as flexible machine armor (Soft exosuit) and functions similar to other robotic exoskeleton devices. But the bright spot is that a flexible machine armor is not as bulky as other exoskeleton devices, but rather lightweight and flexible.

The Soft exosuit consists of woven ribbon-shaped textiles that can wrap the wearer's waist and legs. The machine is built with microprocessors, sensors and energy. In addition, the waist will be placed into the motor to provide strength and mobility.

Researchers at Harvard University said the strap systems and power systems of military exoskeleton were designed to mimic the muscles of the human body, such as the muscles of the thigh or calf. When necessary, the machine clothing can be highly intelligent way to expand muscle strength.

It is not the first time the U.S. military has tried to develop an exoskeleton device. Not long ago, the US Navy tested the Lockheed Martin Company's exoskeleton device to help lift and carry heavy loads.

The Soft Exosuit will be used not only in the military but also in a civilian version to help paralyzed people to stand up again. Similar devices have long been, there was a 3D print of the exoskeleton, successfully "picked up" a high paraplegia women.

DARPA also plans to go to a laboratory in Maryland to test exoskeleton equipment on six soldiers. The research team has also started recruiting paralyzed patients.

Although the U.S. military has begun research on the exoskeleton, it is still "a dream" to reach the level of lethality in the film. At present, we can see the most practical areas of the exoskeleton, is still the medical field.

However, one day, soldiers all over the world use the combat exoskeleton, will not cause a series of humanitarian controversy? It is the development of technology that increases productivity while also causing more disasters.
