Huawei applied for 1600 patents in Europe last year and China patent application

The European Patent Office (EPO) today disclosed 2014 patent data for the European region, with data showing that EPO received 274,174 patents in 2014, up 3.1% per cent on a year earlier. The top five countries were the United States, Japan, Germany, China, South Korea, the United States accounted for the total of 26%, annual growth rate of 6.8%, China accounted for 9%, annual growth rate of 18.2%, the highest in all countries.

In the application from China, Huawei is the top of 1600 patent applications, followed by ZTE's 476 and Tencent's 97. In addition, BYD, Beijing Oriental Science and Technology, China Institute of Information and Communication, Baidu, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Millet, with the Fang Wei View also entered the top ten. The top ten patent applications are Philips, Siemens, Huawei, Qualcomm, Bosch, Ericsson, Intel, etc.
