Lenovo Group released its second-quarter earnings and interim results in the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
Earnings showed that Lenovo Group revenue of 10.475 billion U.S. dollars in the second quarter of the fiscal year ended September 30, 2014, up 7% from the same period last year, with a net profit of 262 million dollars, up 220 million from the same period last year.
As of September 30, 2014, the first half of the fiscal year 2014-2015, revenue of 20.87 billion U.S. dollars, compared with the same period last year, 18.561 billion U.S. dollars year-on-year growth of 12%, net profit of 476 million U.S. dollars, compared with the same period last year 394 million U.S. dollar year-on-year growth of 21%.
Regional business performance in the first half
China: Revenue of 7.546 billion U.S. dollars, basically flat, accounting for the group's overall income of 36%; PC sales are up 1.2% year-on-year, market share growth of 2.8% to 36.7% and operating profit margin of 7%.
Americas: Revenue of 4.386 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 9%, accounting for the group's overall income of 21%; PC sales rose 9% per cent year-on-year, while the local market overall fell 4% per cent, with market share growth of 0.3% to 10.7%; Moreover, in the Brazilian market, affected by the local macroeconomic and political situation, Lenovo's sales in Brazil fell 19.7% year-on-year.
Asia-Pacific: Revenue of 3.138 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 11%, accounting for the group's overall income of 15%, PC sales rose 3% Year-on-year, market share growth of 1.6% to 16%. Among them, in Australia and New Zealand market, the above business achieved 21% and 57% of the rapid growth.
Europe/Middle East/Africa: Revenue of 5.8 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 41%, accounting for the group's overall income of 28%, PC sales rose 47% Year-on-year, market share growth of 4.4% to 19.3%.
The first half of the product line performance
Commercial PC business: sales rose 9% per cent year-on-year, with global market share growth of 1.2% to 20.4%, as overall market growth stagnated
Consumer PC business: sales rose 18% year-on-year, increasing 2.9% to 19% in global market share.
Smartphone business: Smartphone sales over 32.8 million, up 38% year-on-year, above the overall market growth of 25%, in the global market share growth of 0.5% to 5.2%. Lenovo said that sales growth was mainly due to overseas market development, in the second quarter of 2014-2015, the market outside China's smartphone sales accounted for 20% of overall sales, an increase of 9%.
